Three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains — Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, Hon. Amah Abraham Nnanna, and Mr. Turnah Alabh
George — have petitioned the
National Judicial Council (NJC) against Justice A.L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court for alleged judicial recklessness and abuse of office.

The petitioners accused Justice Akintola of issuing an ex-parte order allowing the PDP to proceed with its November 15–16 national convention, despite a subsisting Federal High Court judgment in Abuja restraining the event.

They argued that the order amounted to the Oyo High Court “sitting on appeal” over the Federal High Court’s decision, describing it as a grave breach of judicial hierarchy and due process.

In an affidavit, Hon. Nnanna, who is also Abia PDP Chairman, said no appeal had been filed against the Abuja court’s October 31 judgment before Justice Akintola’s ruling.

The trio urged the NJC to investigate and sanction Justice Akintola to preserve public confidence in the judiciary.
