Celebrated Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle at the weekend kept mum as his wife of 19 years, Ireti Doyle disclosed that their marriage was a mirage, far flung from the envied celebrity marriage.
A report by GWG.ng said that the entertainment industry was at the weekend shaken with the disclosure that Patrick Doyle and Ireti Doyle had gone ahead to conclude their divorce after years of separation.
The pair was one of the most celebrated in Nollywood power couples in the industry that was looked up to by younger acts in the industry.
Ireti Doyle was, however, dismissive of the insinuation of being a role model in marriage in her expository interview with Chude Jideonwo.
The 55-year-old actress and journalist said she owed no one any explanation for her happiness asserting that there was a wide gulf between what people saw and the reality of their marriage.
She said: “Do you see me talking about my personal life in public? That’s nobody’s business and quite frankly I don’t owe anybody any explanation.
“Go ahead speculate but if it helps you digest your morning tea, go ahead speculate. My life is not an animation, I am sorry if I contributed to shattering your image of love and a perfect couple but my life is not an animation and I cannot sacrifice my life at the altar of your imagination or your fantasy. So, if I hurt anybody, I am sorry, but I had to choose me.
