Peace Ibiyeomie, wife of Salvation Ministries pastor David Ibiyeomie, has advised women to limit close friendships with divorced women who refuse to reconcile or remarry.

Speaking during a Mother’s Day service, she said some divorced women publicly discourage marriage while privately maintaining relationships with men. She argued that if men were truly unimportant, as some claim, they would not keep sexual relationships with them.

“Do not follow a divorcee as your friend even if she is your sister. Teach her, either she reconciles with her husband or she remarries,” Peace said. “They keep saying the man is not important, if he is not important, why are you sleeping with him. So stay on your own if you say a man is not important.”

She urged women to encourage divorced relatives and friends to either reconcile with former spouses or remarry, rather than hold bitterness toward men.

Peace said she had spoken with several single women who privately admitted to maintaining relationships with men while rejecting marriage publicly.
