A pastor has reportedly turned a church service into an unexpected platform to eppeal to the thief who stole his phone to return it.

He disclosed that his iPhone 14 Pro Max was stolen and urged whoever took it to hand it back before he called in the authorities.

In a video doing the rounds on social media, the clergyman, visibly upset, told his congregation that his phone had gone missing and demanded its return during the service to avert the escalation of the incident to the security agencies.

He warned that if the device was not returned, he would pursue the matter through every legal avenue, even saying he would ask the Department of State Services (DSS) to help track the handset.

“Whatever I have, I will use to put that person in prison,” the pastor said in the clip, promising that anyone caught would face the full weight of the law.

The footage shows a tense moment as church members react to the announcement.

The pastor appealed directly to the person responsible, pleading for the phone to be returned quietly so the situation could be resolved internally.

The post has since divided viewers online. Some sympathised with the pastor’s frustration and urged the thief to do the right thing, while others questioned the public airing of the matter during worship.
