A luminous epoch in socio-political crusading has come to a dignifying end with the passing of elder statesman, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, according to a former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni.
In a condolence message on the passing of Pa Fasanmi, thd former governor said: “But we take solace in the comforting truth that our highly revered father played his enviable part in the socio-cutural and political development of Yoruba land before his transition to eternal rest in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.”
Accotding to him, “Senator Ayo Fasanmi was a lawmaker par excellence who served our country meritoriously; a foremost nationalist who lived an incorruptible lifestyle worthy of emulation; a courageous leader whose role was invaluable to the NADECO struggle; and a political activist who was one of the last set of survivors of the first order in the post-independence era.
“My family and I offer our deepest condolences to the immediate family of Pa Fasanmi, even though his passing was a glorious exit that must be celebrated by all and sundry.
“I take consolation in a life well-lived, and in also knowing that in his departure, we can all aspire to live by his ideals of selfless service, patriotism, and celebrate the end of a very eventful, dedicated, illustrious and industrious life.”
