Tope Maggie

Oyo-based chef Temitope Adebayo, also known as Tope Maggie, has completed a 200-hour cooking marathon in a bid to set a world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Tope Maggie began cooking on Thursday evening [November 9 2023] and ended on Saturday morning [November 18, 2023] at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, near LAUTECH College of Health Sciences.

Irish chef Alan Fisher recently set a new world record of 119 hours and 57 minutes, displacing Nigerian Hilda Baci, who set a new record earlier this year.

Tope Maggie will now wait for the verification of his attempt by the Guinness World Record.

Oyo State Government has since congratulated him on the feat.

In a post on X, the Oyo Government wrote, “We join the good people of Ogbomoso and, indeed, Oyo State to congratulate Prince Adebayo Ayodeji Temitope #cheftopemaggie on completing his 200-hour Cookathon.

“He started cooking on Thursday, 9 November 2023, at 6:31 p.m. and ended earlier today, Saturday, 18 November 2023, at 2.31 a.m. We look forward to the final verification and award of the new world record by the Guinness World Record #GWR team.”
