Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Sir Rowland Owie, KSJI has expressed sadness over the death of former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ex Whip said that Momoh was a firm believer in democratic governance as a critical enabler of national development and expressed confidence that all progressives would continue to celebrate his inspiring leadership, vision and belief in the unity of Nigeria.
He added that as a former Minister of Information and Culture,he would always be remembered for his passionate campaigns for national unity and peaceful coexistence.
Owie said: “My family and I received the death of Prince Tony Momoh with heavy heart and gratitude to God for a life well blessed and spent. We, join his immediate family and the extended Momoh Royal family of Auchi Sacred Kingdom to pray for the repose of the soul of our dear and beloved Prince Tony Momoh.
“His death is a loss to the nation, Nigerian progressive community, the media and all patriots.”
Owie noted that as a former CPC National Chairman, Momah was able to demonstrate that the determining factor for any successful leader is sacrifice.
He prayed that the good Lord would comfort the family he left behind and grant him safe passage to his bosom.
