Popular TikTok creator and livestreamer, Hamzat Habeeb, better known as Peller, has sparked widespread outrage and concern after crashing his car while broadcasting live on social media on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos.
The disturbing incident happened on Sunday during an Instagram livestream titled “RIP Peller,” which has since gone viral.
The video showed the influencer driving alone in his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz, appearing emotionally unstable and visibly distressed.
During the livestream, Peller was seen crying while speaking on the phone in what many viewers believed was a conversation with his girlfriend, Jarvis, amid rumours that their relationship may have ended.
At different moments in the broadcast, he made troubling remarks that alarmed viewers. In one instance, he said, “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” and later added, “I’m scared. I’m scared.”
As the livestream continued, his emotional state appeared to worsen. Peller could be heard saying, “If you break up with me, people will be mocking me, they will be mocking me, they will be mocking me, they will be, they will be mocking me, they will not… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.”
Shortly after making the statement, the livestream captured the moment the content creator drove to another section of the road and intentionally rammed his vehicle into a stone, resulting in a crash.
Additional videos that later emerged online showed bystanders helping Peller at the scene before he was taken to a hospital. As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation regarding the severity of his injuries.
Photos circulating on social media revealed that the Mercedes-Benz sustained significant damage from the crash.
The incident has continued to generate strong reactions online, with many social media users expressing deep concern over Peller’s actions. Several netizens called on the Federal Road Safety Corps to investigate the matter, stressing that his behaviour posed serious risks to both himself and other road users.
While some viewers speculated that the crash may have been staged for content, others insisted that such conduct should attract consequences, describing it as reckless and dangerous.
As of press time, neither Peller nor any relevant authority has released an official statement addressing the incident. [Prompt News]
