The Ottawa community has been thrown into mourning following a road accident that claimed the lives of two Nigerian residents returning from a prayer outing in Toronto, Canada.

According to reports, the crash occurred on Highway 7, west of Perth, Ontario, when the SUV conveying the victims collided with two transport trucks and a pick-up truck.

The deceased have been identified as Mrs. Rachel Ola Peters, 59, and a 46-year-old man, both Ottawa residents. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Four others sustained injuries, with two adults in critical condition and two others treated for minor injuries.

Emergency responders, including the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lanark County Paramedic Services, and Drummond-North Elmsley-Tay Valley Fire Rescue, rushed to the scene.

The news has sent shockwaves through Ottawa, where the victims were well known in their community.
