The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has denied allegation by former international Taribo West that it failed to offer support towards the burial of Peter Rufai, Prompt News reports.

West, speaking at Rufai’s burial, expressed disappointment over what he described as the neglect of Nigerian football heroes after their death.

The former Inter Milan defender also recalled similar situations with the late football icons such as Stephen Keshi, Rashidi Yekini, and Thompson Oliha, stressing that the treatment of ex-players discouraged him from encouraging his children to serve the country through football.

A top official of the NFF was quoted by Prompt News to have said: “Taribo West is not aware of anything and started ranting.

“The NFF provided financial support for the families of Chukwu and Rufai for the burial rites.

“The Rufai family were very grateful because it came in handy as the money approved by Lagos State is yet to be released.”

Prompt News reports NFF Executive Member, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, and Director of Communication, Ademola Olajire were present at Rufai’s burial ceremony at the Catholic Church of Visitation, Festac, Lagos on Friday. [Prompt News]
