The Osun State Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, has offered to host all the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Osun State chapter, in commemoration of this year’s Press Week.
Famodun who was responding to the request of the Osun NUJ state chapter to host the more than 100 members of the pen profession stated that doing so would not be anything unusual as journalists are veritable partners in the business of fixing the state.
Chairman, NUJ Sunday Service Committee, Mr Richard Akintade, who signed the request letter, gave the state APC chairman the latitude to choose a church of his choice where a Thanksgiving service would be held and to be followed by a reception at a designated place by Famodun on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
The APC state chairman hinted that he would disclose the church of his choice for the event not later than two weeks to the event.
He stated that he would do everything humanly possible to ensure that the NUJ event which is held once in a year is rosy and colourful to the satisfaction of all who will attend the event.
In his words: “I would be very happy to host all the journalists irrespective of their number in commemmoration of the celebration of their week.
“I think, for them to have thought it wise to approach me for the sponsorship of the occasion should be the reason why an adequate care and provision should be made for the event.
“Let me assure you that you have not made a mistake by choosing me as the sponsor of the church service segment of your event this year.
“We are all partners in progress in the running of the state; we appreciate your adequate reportage of both the government and our party in the state so far.
“May God Almighty continue to embolden you to be upright in rendering your professional service to the State of the Virtuous”, Famodun prayed.
It would be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District of the state, had hosted the pen pushers in a similar capacity in the past.
