Osun focal person commends FG N-Skill programme initiative

The Osun State Focal Person, National Social Investments Programme, N-SIP, Lukman Abimbola Bello, on Tuesday, lauded the Social Intervention Programme of the Federal government which he described as a round peg in a round hole.

Bello who said that the programme had contributed to the betterment of the youths in the country made this known at the closing ceremony of the N-Skills In-Center Training programme designed for the youths held at the Youth Camp, Ode-Omu, Osun State.

The Focal Person charged the participants to take the opportunity of the training to develop themselves and also create a good environment.

Bello commended President Mohammad Buhari for always pursuing the welfare and betterment of the youths in the country, saying he was a good father of the nation.

He also used the medium to appreciate the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouk, describing her as a good mother to the youths.

While declaring the programme closed, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouk who was represented by the Senior Social Welfare Officer of her Ministry, Saad Mohammed Oladimeji, described the N-Skills as part of the non-graduate component of the N-Power programme introduced in 2020.

According to the Minister, the N-Skills programme was designed to train, tool and transition beneficiaries into the labour market to optimize employment opportunities.

“To the in-center and the 6 months apprenticeship, each beneficiary of the programme is given starter pack that would enable him or her to start business in his or her chosen trade.
“I want you to take this opportunity very seriously to have positive change in your lives by engaging in income-generating and productive activities” the Minister added.

While speaking at the programme, the Training Manager, Osun Center, Adebowale Olusegun Anthony, the Principal Youth Development Officer, Nuren Olawole Olasunkanmi also lauded the efforts of the federal government in empowering the entire youths of the nation.

One of the applicants of the training, Fakanlu Olaoluwa who was highly elated said the federal government had done a lot for the youths through their various empowerment programmes.

No fewer than four hundred (400) participants were drawn from the six (6) states under the South-West comprising Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo and Lagos states as beneficiaries of the six weeks learning programme in various professional skills like, Aluminium Assembly & Fabrication organised by Fordgate Nigeria Limited, QA Tailoring & Embroidery organised by Ministaco Nigeria Limited and Auto mechanic organised by Bride Oils Nigeria Limited.
