In response to the ongoing communal clashes between the Ilobu and Ifon communities, the Osun State government has decided to extend the curfew imposed in the affected areas of Orolu and Irepodun local government areas.

This decision aims to restore and maintain law and order in troubled communities.

The directive to continue the curfew was issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Honourable Kolapo Alimi, in a statement released on Wednesday. The new curfew hours will be from 6:00 PM every evening to 6:00 AM the following morning. During this curfew period, both human and vehicular movements will be restricted until further notice.

The primary objective of the extended curfew is to prevent any potential loss of life and property resulting from the ongoing land dispute between the communities involved. Authorities are taking a firm stance against individuals found violating the curfew in Orolu and Irepodun local governments, as they will be subject to arrest and appropriate legal action.

Governor Ademola Adeleke emphasized the critical importance of peace and reconciliation between the two affected local governments.

He called upon the residents to embrace the values of peace, love, and unity, which are synonymous with the state, and to work towards a peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.

The Osun State government continues to closely monitor the situation and is committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of its citizens in the affected areas.
