Orji Kalu wins APC Abia North Senatorial Ticket with landslide victory

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Abia North Senatorial District, defeating challenger Philip Nto by a wide margin.

The serving senator secured victories across all five local government areas in the district — Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi

The exercise was attended by party stakeholders, delegates, and support groups.

Returning Officer Chinidom Christian Kano announced the result on Monday after collating votes from the 57 wards in the senatorial district.

“The candidates for this election are two: Professor Philip Nto and Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu,” Kano said.

A total of 67,854 votes were cast across the 57 wards. According to the returning officer:

– Professor Philip Nto polled 2,103 votes
– Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu polled 65,651 votes

Kano subsequently declared Kalu the winner of the primary election.

“With the power vested on me as the returning officer for the Abia North senatorial election, I hereby declare Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu winner of this election,” he said.

The victory secures Kalu’s ticket to contest for the Abia North Senatorial seat under the APC in the forthcoming general elections.
