Court orders El-Rufai to sign DSS register monthly

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) every last Friday of the month by 10 a.m. pending the determination of his case.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik gave the directive while granting the former governor bail in the sum of N100 million with one surety in like amount.

The court stipulated that the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and deposit the Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property at the court registry.

Additionally, the surety must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17 and provide proof of at least three months’ salary, verified by a letter from the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.

Other conditions include submission of an affidavit of means, execution of a bail bond, and provision of a recent passport photograph. The surety is also required to present a verification letter from their department and a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months.

As part of the bail terms, El-Rufai was directed to surrender all valid international passports to the court.

The judge warned that failure to comply with any of the conditions would lead to automatic revocation of the bail.

The court further ordered the submission of a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council as part of the requirements.
