Senator Orji Kalu said Tuesday’s (December 9, 2025) plenary was productive and impactful as the Senate approved the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the deployment of Nigerian troops in the Republic of Benin on a peace support mission, in line with constitutional provisions and our national security responsibilities.

Kalu’s review was posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
He wrote: “In addition, I chaired a crucial sitting of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating the Safe Schools Initiative (SSI).
“We received a comprehensive briefing from the National Coordinator, Financing Safe Schools, Hajiya Halima Iliya Ibrahim, who provided detailed accounts of funds allocated to the SSI since its inception in 2014.
“Our priority remains ensuring transparency, accountability, and stronger protection for our children across the country.
“Today also offers us a moment to celebrate leadership. I joined colleagues and Nigerians in extending warm felicitations to the President of the Senate, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio, on his birthday, and to Senator Agom Jarigbe as he also marks his birthday.
” I wish them God’s abundant grace, strength, and continued service to our nation.”
