The founder of SamKay Athletics Club, Dr.Kola Oredipe has appealed to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for support in his candidacy for the South-South zonal representative role on the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) board.
Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday at the Media Centre of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Oredipe underscored SWAN’s role in amplifying his vision and credentials to sports fans across Nigeria.
Dr.Kola Oredipe, who is also Vice Chairman of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association, highlighted his efforts in organizing quarterly secondary school athletics meets in Yenagoa and providing sports equipment to young athletes in Bayelsa.
The Director General on New Media for the Bayelsa State Government pledged to drive athletics growth in the South-South through innovation, inclusivity, and grassroots programs, emphasizing regular competitions to discover and nurture young talent.
SWAN President, Comrade Benjamin Isaiah, pledged the association’s support, praising Oredipe’s venture into sports leadership.
Comr. Isaiah urged sports journalists to seek leadership roles in sports federations, citing Oredipe’s ambition as a motivating example.
