Former Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has been elected as Vice National Chairman of the party for the South-south zone.

With his election on Tuesday, along with members of the zonal executive Committee holding other positions, he has been effectively ratified to occupy the position of leader of the party in the zone in substantive capacity.

The Kulukulu 1 of Ogoniland and Esama of Uromi, among many chieftaincy titles, is coming to his present position with a load of political experience honed largely under the tutelage and/or mentorship of the late Iyasele of Esanland, former Minister of Wroks and Housing as well former Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, the late Chief Tony Anenih.

A political bulldozer, Orbih never gives up in the face of political challenges.

He led the opposition PDP in Edo state with distinction, putting the governments of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Godwin Obaseki on their toes with his constructive criticisms, largely pointing at alleged mismanagement of public finance.

He is expected to replicate that critical role on both zonal and national levels as the South-south PDP leader.

Orbih, in his acceptance speech after the election of the zonal executive Committee in Port Harcourt, said on behalf of the committee that they would not betray the trust reposed in them.

He commended the delegates at the Congress for their faith and confidence in the team, adding: “we feel highly honoured with what you have demonstrated here this evening.”

Orbih said the committee was proud of a the PDP governors in the South-south zone, stressing “they have shown leadership, commitment and made humongous sacrifice to strengthen the party and ensure it occupies a solid ground for future national elections.”
