Security has been beefed up in and around the premises of the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure, Ondo State.
The governorship election holds today to climax months of preparation by the commission, which only three weeks ago delivered the Edo governorship poll.
Security operatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and others have already taken positions at the INEC office located at Government Reserved Area (GRA), Alagbaka, Akure.
Armed security personnel in their patrol vehicles were stationed at the entrance gate and the major road leading to the INEC state office.
Check points were mounted on the main roads leading to the office.
Some of the security personnel were also seen with sniffer dogs in and around the premises of the office.

Meanwhile, 1,478,460 voters had collected their permanent voter cards (PVCs) to participate in Saturday’s election.
The exercise will hold in 3,009 polling units in thec18 Local Government Areas of the State.
