The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has expressed surprise at the decision of Hon. Gbenga Edema to defect from the APC to the NNPP, despite his longstanding commitment and significant contributions to the party. Hon. Edema, who has held numerous appointments at both state and federal levels, has been known for his dedication to public service within the APC.
In a press statement signed by Steve Otaloro, Director of Media & Publicity for the APC in Ondo State, the party acknowledged Hon. Edema’s decision to pursue a governorship race with another political party but raised concerns about potential conflicts with the new electoral law. This is due to Hon. Edema’s initiation of the governorship process within the APC primary election held on April 20, 2024.
Otaloro described Hon. Edema as a distinguished gentleman who actively participated in the party’s activities, including recent governorship primary reconciliation efforts initiated by Engr. Ade Adetimehin, APC chairman in Ondo State.
The APC extended its best wishes to Hon. Edema in his future endeavors, expressing gratitude for his valuable contributions to the party’s growth and development, particularly within his local government area.
