The Ondo State Chapter of the All Provressives Congress, APC,  will begin sitting on Wednesday, July 22, to look into petitions that arose from the primary election that held on Monday in Akure.

This is against the background of a statement issued in Akure on Tuesday by the Unity Forum led by Alhaji Ali Olanusi, a former Deputy Governor of the State.

The Unity Forum said Governor Akeredolu won the primary election through a “defective” system that was configured from the beginning to favour him.

The APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in a statement, on Tuesday night, said the Emperor Chris Baywood Ibe- led primary election appeal committee, would sit at the party’s National Secretariat, Abuja.

The nine-man appeal committee has Arch. Abdulmimuni Okara as Secretary while other members include Mr. Festus Fientes, Mr. Okon Owoefiak,  Mr. Abba Isah, Alh. Umar Duhu, Hon. Sani El-katuzu, Mrs. Osuere Eunice, and Emeka Agaba.

The APC Unity Forum commended the efforts of APC Members in Ondo State for their support on the just concluded Primary Election.

The Forum noted that the choice of Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) as its consensus candidate by the “unbiased Committee set up by Unity Forum is the best and was never done in error.”

“While recalling with nostalgia the fallacy of some of our highly revered Leaders, in their obnoxious thought of alluding that Chief Olusola Oke was going to step down for the incumbent Governor but the 100% commitment and participation of Chief Olusola Oke have proven beyond comprehension that there wouldn’t have been any other better choice than him,” the statement said.

“We use this medium to salute the courage and doggedness of Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) as he succeeded in winning the War but only lost the battle”.

“As true and committed members of APC, the election was duly contested but was lost to a defective system as it was obvious that the whole process ab initio was orchestrated in favour of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who by himself compiled the list of the delegates, dictated the mode and determined the pattern to be applied for the conduct of the Primary Election.

“We call on all Members to be calm as we await further directive after due consultation with the stakeholders.”
