Oluremi Tinubu rallies Ekiti for Oyebanji’s re-election, flags off APC women campaign for June 20 poll

Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday urged Ekiti voters to return Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term, describing his performance as “commendable and sterling” with clear evidence of good governance.

Senator Tinubu made the call at the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Women Campaign Rally for Oyebanji’s re-election, held before a mammoth crowd at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, on May 30, 2026.

—“Vote BAO, vote Tinubu in 2027”—

The First Lady said Oyebanji has done enough to justify re-election because “the fortune of the state has changed for better in over three years in governance.”

“We came here just to appreciate Ekiti Kete for the support given to BAO and his wife so far. I want to plead with you, help me vote for BAO in the coming governorship election in Ekiti and in 2027, vote for Mr President because things are changing for better,” she told the crowd.

She added that states now receive more funds and “no longer owe salaries,” citing improved governance in Ekiti under Oyebanji.

—Women empowerment, 2,000 beneficiaries—

A major highlight was the symbolic presentation of cheques worth N50,000 each to 2,000 women to support small-scale businesses. Senator Tinubu said the Wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, will supervise the disbursement.

She praised APC women in Ekiti for the massive turnout, saying she was impressed by the reception accorded her during the one-day working visit to the “Land of Honour.”

—Oyebanji promises 700,000 votes for Tinubu—

Governor Oyebanji pledged a block vote of 700,000 votes from Ekiti for President Bola Tinubu in 2027, in appreciation of what he called “unprecedented support” that has changed the face of the state and improved living standards.

—Busy day for First Lady—

Earlier, Senator Tinubu, accompanied by Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and other APC women leaders, received a rousing welcome at Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Airport. She commissioned the new ICT Experience Centre at Ekiti State University facilitated by RHI, and held talks with Ekiti Obas under the Traditional Rulers’ Council at Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House.

The governorship election holds June 20, 2026.
