Market women at the popular Oja-Oba market in Osogbo have commended the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for approving the rehabilitation of a network of roads around the market.

The market women located at the popular ‘Iso-Isu,’ Iso-Ewe, Iso-Ege, Iso-Eran’ at Oja-Oba market were full of praises for the governor for coming to their rescue through the rehabilitation of the road.

They practically mobbed the inspection team of the Ministry of Works and Transport, who went on the spot inspection of the rehabilitation work that is ongoing.

The women, who met the inspection team with dancing and chants of “Ese ooo” meaning ‘thank you’, lamented that the road had suffered neglect for a number of years.

They reflected on the deplorable condition of the road, hitherto, saying it had badly affected their businesses as vehicles could not gain access to their shops.

Speaking with newsmen, Alhaja Asisat Gbadebo, who deals in the sales of live goats, said the bad condition of the road over the years had negatively impacted her business.

She said Governor Adeleke had, no doubt, brought smiles to the faces of the market women through the rehabilitation of the road as vehicle would now gain access to their various shops, thereby improving their sales.

Speaking during the inspection visit, the Director Highways in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Basiru Bello assured the women of continued support from the State Government to boost their businesses.

He said the governor would not relent in fixing and rehabilitating more roads across the state for economic growth and development.
