The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into a shocking alleged indecent assault of an eight-month-old baby at a private school in the state.
The incident, which occurred on March 18, has left the infant’s mother distraught and demanding justice.
According to the baby’s mother, Gloria Umukoro, who works at the school, she had left her child in the care of the school principal while she worked on examination questions.
However, when the school director, Mr Korede Afuye, returned the child to the principal, things took a disturbing turn.
Umukoro recounted, “The principal placed the baby on the floor because she was restless and didn’t want to stay on her lap.
She urinated there, and the principal left for the office. About 10 minutes later, I picked her up and was shocked to see she was bleeding.”
A nurse colleague examined the baby and confirmed the bleeding was from the anus, with visible bruises around the area.
The mother alleged that the school director was the last person to handle the child before the injuries were discovered.
The police have confirmed the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Gender Unit for further investigation, with the identity of the child being protected.
The investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine those responsible.
