Mrs Christy Uba, the Director overseeing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has said that the NYSC remained resolute and committed to transparency and accountability in all its operations.
She said this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Eddy Megwa.
According to him, Uba made the commitment while declaring open the 2022 Second Procurement Officers Training
with the theme: “Access and Inventory Management in GIFMIS”.
He quoted Uba to have said that “the NYSC is fully committed to prudent management of government business, using the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) module.”
Uba also said that the scheme would continue to leverage on the template provided by the Federal Government to tackle
problems associated with poor management in respect of access and inventory in government.
She added that “I find it necessary to inform you that management places high premium on the capacity development of
staff to enhance efficiency and productivity.
“I, therefore, urge all participants to key into this technologically-driven IT-based system designed for access and inventory management.”
She appealed to participants at the training to endeavour to acquire the requisite additional skills and knowledge that would improve their job efficiency.
The Deputy Director overseeing Procurement Department, Mrs Grace Akpabio, in her introductory remarks, said that the training was in conjunction with the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, GIFMIS Unit.
Akpabio added that the training was designed to update Procurement Officers on their roles on the GIFMIS platform. (NAN)
