The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) said it was deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Dan Agbese, a towering figure in Nigerian journalism.

President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) said in a statement that Agbese’s death was a monumental loss to the media industry and the nation at large.
According to him, Mr. Agbese was a quintessential journalist, known for his courage, principle, and commitment to truth and integrity.
Yahya stated that as a co-founder of Newswatch magazine, Agbese set a high standard for ethical journalism and national accountability, inspiring generations of media professionals.
The NUJ had recognised his immense contributions to the profession, conferring on him the Media Icon honour last year.
The union paid tribute to his legacy, which would continue to inspire journalists and media professionals for years to come.
The NUJ extended its deepest condolences to Mr. Agbese’s family, colleagues, friends, and the wider media community.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his contributions to journalism continue to inspire future generations,” he prayed.
