The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has held a ground-breaking and foundation-laying ceremony of its headquarters in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
According to a statement by Ekunola Gbenga, media assistant to the Commandant General at the ceremony on Monday, the Commandant General, Abdullahi Muhammad said the building would provide a conducive environment for staff members to put in their best performance.
He promised to give special attention to the welfare and promotion of personnel especially those in the theatres of war.
He said NSCDC would work in synergy with other security forces to rid the region of insurgency and terrorism.
Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum applauded the effort of NSCDC in the restoration of civil authority in the state and called on the Federal Government to provide the Corps with state-of-the-art equipment to contain criminal activities.
