NPC begins trial Census in Ondo

The National Population Commission (NPC) has commenced a trial census in some local government areas in  Ondo State ahead of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Federal Commissioner, representing Ondo, Prince Diran Iyantan, at the training of field officers, on Wednesday, said the exercise would be conducted in five enumeration areas in each of the selected nine local government areas of the state.

He said the trial census was preparatory to the 2023 census.

The selected local government areas where the trial census exercise wpuld be conducted are Akoko North West, Akoko South East, Ose, Idanre, Akure South, Ondo East, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo, Odigbo and Ese-Odo local government areas.

According to Iyantan, the enumerators who had been trained in Abuja were now training others in the state to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

Iyantan said that the training, which began on Wednesday, June 29, would end on July 8 while the trial census would hold from July 20 to 24.
