The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.
NOA’s Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, honored the late military leader as a courageous and committed soldier whose service to Nigeria was marked by an unwavering dedication to duty.
In a statement, Mallam Issa-Onilu said, “The National Orientation Agency joins the entire nation in mourning the loss of this exceptional officer who gave his all in the service of our great country. His contributions to the fight against insurgency and the defence of our territorial integrity will never be forgotten.”
The NOA DG highlighted General Lagbaja’s role as a champion for national unity and cohesion—values central to the agency’s mission.
“We will miss his strategic guidance and support in our efforts to promote patriotism and civic responsibility among Nigerians,” he added.
Offering condolences to the Nigerian Army, Lagbaja’s family, and all service members, Mallam Issa-Onilu extended prayers for strength to bear this loss.
He called on Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the Army and the bereaved, saying, “We must draw strength from the sacrifices of our fallen heroes and recommit ourselves to the values of patriotism, discipline, and selfless service that the late Chief of Army Staff embodied.”
