Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied filing any new charges against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, dismissing reports that he had “just filed” a N200 billion suit against her as misleading.

Udom explained that multiple attempts by the court bailiff to serve Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan with the originating processes were unsuccessful because of her alleged deliberate evasion.

“Only after repeated evasion did the court, in November, grant an application for substituted service,” the statement added.

The Senate President emphasized that legal disputes should be resolved in courtrooms, not on social media.

“The online applause Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan seeks cannot replace credible evidence, legal procedure, or judicial scrutiny,” Udom stated, noting that her behavior mirrors her reaction during her six-month Senate suspension, which she initially sought to delegitimize online before serving in full.

Akpabio urged the senator to present the evidence she claims to possess in a court of competent jurisdiction rather than relying on sensationalized commentary designed to attract public sympathy.

“The law is guided by proof, procedure, and due process—not sentiment, emotion, or social-media theatrics,” he said.

He further advised Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to properly instruct her lawyers, file her defense, and submit the evidence supporting her allegations to the court.
