Bayelsa United football club has debunked rumour doing the rounds in the social media about a court injunction against Bayelsa United from featuring in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on account of their indebtedness to Nembe City FC.

The club management said there was no iota of truth in the story because the injunction was vacated on Friday January 20th, 2023 at the Federal High court Yenagoa in a suit No FHC/YNG/CS/1/2023 and urged the public to discountenance it in its entirety.

In a press statement issued by the club’s media officer in Yenagoa, Mr Hananeel Jackson, the club stated that, the judge Hon. Justice Isa H Dashen on 20/1/2023 set aside the earlier judgment pending hearing and determination of motion on notice that all parties should maintain status quo.

According to Hannanel, the court proceedings would resume on the 9th of February, 2023 with a report of service cum hearing of the application filed by Nembe City football club.

The statement however asked fake news merchants to verify their stories before sharing in order not to cause distraction and paint the club in bad light.

It would be recalled that Nembe City made a formal complaint to the Interim Management Company (IMC) regarding Bayelsa United’s indebtedness to them.

The debts include 15 Million Naira being outstanding payments to Nembe City FC for the transfer of three players in 2014.

The players are Ebitimi Agogo, Sobomabo West and Opubo Japhet.

Bayelsa United have won promotion back to the top flight after many years in the lower league.

On Sunday Jan 22nd, 2023 Bayelsa United Football Club will be locking horns with Wikki Tourist at the popular Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on Match weekday 3 of the NPFL.”
