NNPC Ltd clarifies Apapa depot fire incident, says operations normalized

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has clarified that the recent fire incident at Marine Beach, Apapa, Lagos, was caused by a petroleum product spillage.

According to Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd Abuja, the fire incident occurred at a tank farm belonging to HOGL Energy Ltd (Honeywell Depot) and not at an NNPC Retail Ltd.facility, as initially reported by early responders.

He said the fire, which was caused by a petroleum product spillage within the tank farm, had been successfully extinguished.

NNPC Ltd. confirmed that both its operations and those of other depots in the area had resumed normal loading activities.

Soneye assured the public that the incident would not impact the supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country.
