The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and First Exploration & Production Limited (First E&P) Joint Venture (JV) have contributed N53.4 million to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across Nigeria.
The initiative, known as the Impact First Initiative, aims to bolster societal welfare by focusing on critical areas such as healthcare, education, and economic development.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Olufemi Soneye, affirmed the commitment of the companies towards enhancing the well-being of communities within the nation through targeted donations.
During the ceremony for the presentation of the donation, Mr. Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer (CUIO) of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), conveyed gratitude to First E & P for spearheading this noble programme.
Represented by Mrs. Edith Lawson, Deputy Manager of External Relations at NUIMS, Wunti emphasized NNPC Ltd.’s dedication to collaborative efforts aimed at uplifting the lives of the underprivileged.
Wunti further elaborated on the various projects and programs facilitated under the initiative, ranging from the construction of classrooms, ICT centers, and laboratories to scholarships, skill acquisition programs, and economic empowerment initiatives.
These endeavors underscore NNPC Ltd.’s steadfast commitment to fostering sustainable development across Nigeria.
Commending First E & P for its foresight and leadership, Wunti highlighted the pivotal role of such partnerships in effecting meaningful change for the nation’s future prosperity.
The beneficiaries of this generous donation include prominent NGOs such as the Irede Foundation, dedicated to providing custom-made artificial limbs to child amputees; the Human Development Initiative (HDI), focused on addressing fundamental issues of poverty, injustice, neglect, and equality among vulnerable populations; the OISA Foundation, committed to transforming lives through interventions in education and healthcare sectors; the Cerebral Palsy Centre, providing support to families with children affected by cerebral palsy; and the Niola Cancer Care Foundation, which conducts awareness campaigns and screenings for colon cancer within communities.
This collaboration between NNPC Ltd. and First E&P stands as a testament to the power of CSR initiatives in driving positive change and improving the lives of Nigerians across various sectors of society.
