The Comptroller of Immigration, Bayelsa State Command, CIS F.O. Atteh, announced this during a courtesy visit by a UCC delegation, led by Chairman Comr. Ekaunkumo Amgbare, at the command’s headquarters in Yenagoa.
Atteh outlined the command’s role in overseeing foreigners in Bayelsa, including those under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) regional framework.
He explained that the ECOWAS protocol allows citizens of member states to travel, reside, and work within the subregion, subject to specific regulations.
“Our divisional offices in all local government areas monitor foreigners and ensure compliance with immigration laws,” Attah said, reaffirming the command’s dedication to maintaining security and order in the state.
In his remarks, Comr. Ekaunkumo Amgbare expressed the UCC’s commitment to collaborating with the NIS to promote public awareness of the service’s ongoing reforms.
He praised Comptroller General Kemi Nanna Nandap for her transformative leadership and commended Attah for effectively implementing these changes in Bayelsa.
“We aim to educate the public about these initiatives to build greater support and understanding,” Amgbare stated.
Amgbare also expressed gratitude for the command’s warm reception and reiterated the UCC’s resolve to foster a robust partnership with the NIS.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen public knowledge of migration policies and enhance cooperation between the NIS and media stakeholders in Bayelsa State.
