The Nigerian Army will convene the 2024 Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference from Monday, December 15, to Thursday, December 19, at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro, Abuja.
According to Director, Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the event, chaired by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, provides a platform to review the Army’s operations, focusing on sustaining operational effectiveness and addressing national security challenges.
He said key discussions will assess counterterrorism, anti-banditry, and insurgency efforts while identifying challenges and proposing improvements.
The conference will also establish a strategic roadmap for 2025, aligning the Army’s goals with its constitutional mandate.
General Nwachukwu said field commanders and senior military leaders will explore the COAS’s strategic directives and priorities for the coming year to ensure coordinated action across all command levels. Presentations will highlight training, logistics, and administrative advancements, aiming to enhance the Army’s operational efficiency and morale.
He added that the event will include the presentation of Group Life Insurance to families of fallen soldiers and the commissioning of the Nigerian Army Welfare Scheme project in Idu, Abuja, under the Affordable Housing Ownership Options for All Soldiers (AHOOAS).
The conference underscores the Army’s commitment to securing Nigeria and addressing critical security threats.
