Nigeria receives additional 100,000 doses of Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine from India

The federal government on Tuesday said a consignment of additional 100,000 doses of the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine manufactured at the Serum Institute of India, had been delivered to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA),

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja.

He said the vaccines, donated by the India government to Nigeria, would help boost the number of Nigerians to be vaccinated by about 50,000.

The first lot of 3.92 million doses of COVID vaccine under COVAX had reached Nigeria on 2 March 2021.

India had supplied 61.426 million doses of Made-in-India vaccines to 82 countries.

Its 1.3 billion population has been administered about 55 million vaccines so far.
