The Nigeria Police Force, Zone XI Command Osogbo has emerged the overall best zone at the recently concluded 10th Inspector General of Police Open Taekwando Sports Competition held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to the statement issued and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Saturday by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, ZPPRO, CSP Ayeni Benjamin, this was celebrated at Zone XI Command Headquarters AIG’s lecture on Friday August 11.
The AIG lecture features the celebration of the members of the contingent to the competition which coincided with the promotion of inspectors of police at the Command Headquarters to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASPII), throwing the Command’s atmosphere into a frenzy of celebrations.
At the special AIG lecture organised to celebrate the zone’s success at the Taekwando competition in Yenagoa and the promotion of the inspectors at the Command Headquarters in Osogbo to the rank of ASP, AIG Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, psc. who was also the Chairman of the occasion expressed delight at the performance of the representatives of the Command in Yenagoa, rewarded them and promised that all talented sportsmen under his watch will be given opportunity to excel in any game they are good in.
AIG Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, psc. stressed that the command was ready to encourage all sportsmen in the Command to be the best in whatever game they are good in to the extent of building them to represent Nigeria in international competitions ”
The highlight of the event was the presentation of medals with the golden trophy won by the members of the contingent and the decoration of the newly promoted ASP.
Commenting further on the promotion of the officers, AIG Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, psc. expressed the hope that the elevation would serve as impetus for them to put in their best in the service of the nation.
He advised the officers to hone their skills and develop themselves to be relevant in combating crime in Nigeria.
In his words, “You must operate professionally in all situations and re-dedicate yourselves to duty. You must shun any act of corruption that may bring the force to opprobrium in the course of discharging your duties,” he added.
One of the newly promoted officers who spoke on behalf of others, ASP Fatorise Isaac expressed appreciation to the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police and AIG Zone XI for approving their promotion and promised that the newly promoted officers would be of good conduct in the discharge of their duties.
Members of the Zone XI Management Team, officers, well-wishers, and relations of the newly promoted officers at the occasion all felicitated with the celebrants and prayed for their success.
