Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, has expressed his admiration for Dr Kashim Akor, the outgoing Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), describing him as one of Nigeria’s most dynamic government CEOs in the parastatal sector, based on his impressive track record.

During the book launch at the Yar’adua Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, Ngige referred to Dr. Akor as a “Jack of all trades and master of all.”

The Minister emphasized that Dr Kashim Akor has been an invaluable asset not only to the labour community but also to the entire nation.

Ngige commended the outgoing Director-General for his unwavering support, which had provided stability to his administration over the past eight years.

Although the Labour Ministry will miss Dr Akor’s active service, Ngige expressed confidence that he would continue to contribute significantly in his new appointment.

The Minister applauded Dr. Kashim Akor for his intellectual contributions to the advancement of productivity in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Dr Akor, in response, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for considering him worthy of working with him for the past eight years.

He promised to continue implementing development strategies if given another opportunity.

Dr Kashim Akor, who inherited a struggling NPC, successfully transformed it into a profitable government agency while also engaging in numerous capacity-building initiatives for both public and private organizations.

He proudly stated, “We turned the NPC around from receiving a meager 15 million Naira in government subvention to a revenue-generating organization worth billion.”

In his vote of thanks, the incoming Director-General, Dr. Nasir Olaitan Raji-Mustapha, pledged to bring about a revolution in the NPC, aiming to revive Nigeria’s struggling industries beyond the center’s designated mandate. He expressed gratitude to the Minister for acknowledging the Director-General’s contributions and for his support in the progress and development of the center.

The event featured the unveiling and launch of the book titled “Productivity: A Discourse on Concepts, Issues, and Perspectives in Nigeria.”
