The Federal Government has introduced a nationwide competition, tagged Tax Reform Challenge, to engage students in promoting awareness and creativity on the country’s new tax reform laws.

The Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, announced the initiative in Abuja on Friday, October 31, 2025.

Oyedele said the competition will educate the youths about the newly signed tax laws and encourage them to share their views and ideas on how to improve Nigeria’s tax system.

According to him, the challenge is open to undergraduates from all tertiary institutions in Nigeria as well as graduates currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or awaiting mobilisation.

Participants are expected to study the new tax laws and create educational content such as articles, videos, podcasts, radio programmes, or social media posts published between July 1 and December 31, 2025.

Entries will be judged based on creativity, factual accuracy, and their ability to inform or engage the public on tax matters.

The total prize for the competition is N10 million.

The winner will receive N5 million, the runner-up gets N3 million, while second runner-up will receive N2 million.

Additional rewards such as gadgets, internships, employment opportunities, and Tax Reform Youth Ambassador titles will be given to top finalists from each geopolitical zone.

The ambassadors will promote fiscal literacy and drive youth participation in discussions about taxation across the country.

Interested applicants were also directed to visit fiscalreforms.ng for details and registration.
The Tax Reform Challenge follows the signing of four major tax reform bills by President Bola Tinubu on June 26, 2025.

These include the Nigeria Tax Act, the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act.

Two of the laws took effect immediately after signing, while the others will begin implementation on January 1, 2026.
