The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest on the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and other directors of the apex bank over their failure to appear before the House over the scarcity of the new naira notes.
The House of Reps had summoned Emefiele and CBN directors over the January 31, 2023, deadline for the validity of old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes but Emefiele and the managing directors of commercial banks in the country refused to appear before the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
