Nembe City FC thrash Okoroba to Win Nembe LGA Cup

Nembe City FC of Ogbolomabiri dominated Okoroba FC, winning 4-0 to claim the Nembe Local Government Area title in the 2025 Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, known as the Prosperity Cup.

The electrifying encounter unfolded at Nembe City Stadium, drawing local government chairman Hon David Alagoa and other dignitaries to witness Nigeria’s premier grassroots football competition.

The scoring opened early, with Ebinyo Victor capitalizing on a precise right-wing cross to fire Nembe City ahead in the 3rd minute. The hosts maintained their momentum, controlling the tempo and exploiting gaps in Okoroba’s defense with sharp passing and movement.

Abraham Ayibaitari doubled Nembe City’s lead in the 14th minute, finishing a well-orchestrated team move with composure. His goal underscored Nembe City’s attacking intent, as they overwhelmed Okoroba with relentless pressure and fluid play.

Ayibaitari struck again in the 47th minute, converting another pinpoint cross to make it 3-0. His clinical finishing exposed Okoroba’s defensive frailties, leaving the visitors struggling to regain a foothold in the contest.

The forward completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute, sealing the 4-0 rout with a composed strike.

Ayibaitari’s second hat-trick of the LGA finals highlighted Nembe City’s dominance and depth in attack.

With this victory, Nembe City joins Crusaders FC of Ekeremor and Adaka FC of Kolokuma/Opokuma as LGA champions, advancing to the state’s round of 32.

Chairman of Nembe local government Area, Hon David Alagoa commended Governor Senator Douye Diri and the organizers for nurturing talent across Bayelsa.

He emphasized football’s role as a unifying force, predicting that players from the Prosperity Cup would represent Nigeria on bigger stages.

Nembe City FC Coach Raphael Affagi attributed the win to his team’s determination, expressing confidence in their quest for the state title.Coach of Okoloba FC, Ekwere Itoro, praised the tournament for elevating their community’s presence.

Also Captain of Nembe FC, Monday Kuki gave thanks to God.

Nembe City received ₦1,000,000 and the championship trophy, while Okoroba FC earned ₦500,000 for their runner-up finish. The victory capped a memorable day for Nembe City, who celebrated with their passionate home crowd.

The Prosperity Cup LGA finals move to Sagbama on May 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., where defending champions Agbere FC will face Indomitable FC of Sagbama at the Sagbama Council Field, promising another thrilling chapter in the tournament.
