The Nigeria Democratic Congress has begun the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 elections, with its presidential primary set for May 29, 2026, in Abuja.
The party said forms go on sale from Wednesday, May 13 to Monday, May 18, 2026. Fees range from N2.5 million for State House of Assembly aspirants to N60 million for the presidency.
According to a statement by National Chairman Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe and Secretary Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, House of Representatives aspirants will pay N6 million, Senate aspirants N8 million, and governorship aspirants N30 million. Female aspirants and persons with disabilities will pay 50% and 25% of the fees respectively.
Screening runs from May 19 to May 21, with nomination forms sold from May 21 to May 23. Completed forms must be submitted by May 25. Appeals will be heard on May 25 and 26.
Primaries for State Assembly, National Assembly and governorship seats are scheduled for May 27 and 28. State Assembly aspirants will be screened in their states, while National Assembly and presidential aspirants will be screened at the party’s Abuja headquarters. Governorship primaries will be held at the local government level.
The NDC said it will use an open secret ballot system and require all aspirants to sign an undertaking to abide by its code of conduct. The party described the process as transparent and inclusive, adding that its fees remain lower than those of other major parties.
