The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Tuesday, described as false the insinuation that the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is spread through broiler chickens and called on the public to disregard the rumour.
“The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is aware of a rumour being shared on social media, that the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is spread through broiler chickens.
“The NCDC can confirm that this is completely FALSE. The public is advised to disregard this rumour and discourage further spread,” the center said
It added that scientists were working on identifying the animal source of this new virus and currently, there was no known link between the virus and broiler chickens.
