NCDC confirms 1,074 new cases of COVID-19, 5 deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Friday, announced 1,074 new cases of COVID-19 infections in the country.
The health agency disclosed that Lagos had the highest record of the fresh cases with-642, Kaduna-92, Rivers-78, FCT-66, Gombe-66, Kano-35, Ogun-31, Katsina-22, Plateau-20, Abia-7, Niger-4, Oyo-4, Akwa Ibom-3, Delta-2, and Osun-2.
The agency said 5 deaths occurred in the country in the last 24 hours, as the fatality figure increased from 1,289 on Thursday to1,294 on Friday.
The data from the agency disclosed that 660 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours as the figure of discharged cases stood at 74,373 while 12,920 cases were still active in the country.
NCDC explained that the discharges on Friday included 459 community recoveries in Lagos State and 156 community recoveries in Katsina State managed in line with guidelines.
