The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Chief Saviour Enyiekere, has hailed legislative workers as the “engine room of Nigeria’s democracy” in his 2026 Workers’ Day message.
“Your mandate is the sinew and spine upon which the strength and stability of our National Legislature depends,” Enyiekere said in a statement released Thursday in Abuja to mark May Day.
He praised the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of National Assembly staff, saying their support services are critical to the effective functioning of the legislature.
“The role of workers in the legislature remains indispensable. Their professionalism and hard work sustain the operations of one of the country’s most important democratic institutions,” he said.
Enyiekere assured staff that the commission is committed to improving welfare, expanding career development, and creating a more conducive working environment.
He said the NASC has begun implementing reforms and policies aimed at boosting staff wellbeing, productivity, and morale.
The chairman urged workers to remain steadfast and committed to excellence, adding that their sacrifices “would continue to be recognized and rewarded.”
He pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to secure “better days” for legislative workers nationwide.
