Concerned stakeholders in the National Assembly (NASS) have warned those trying to create animosity against the clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Mr Sani Magaji, to desist immediately from their campaign of calumny.
The stakeholders voiced their concerns on Tuesday night against the backdrop of some negative reports in a section of the media.
They said the sponsored media reports were the shenanigans of some elements whose desperation to become the CNA was more important than the excellent performance Magaji is posting in the saddle.
According to them (as they prefer to speak in confidence), “Since his assumption of office, Sani Magaji has demonstrated capacity in the leadership of national assembly, through his well thought out programmes directed at the overall welfare and well being of the staff members.”
In the context of Magaji’s sharply-focused leadership, they queried why some desperate people within the national assembly would allow personal ambitions to becloud their sense of reasoning and the strategic benefit of team work.
“Sani Magaji is doing well and should be allowed to focus on the assignment and responsibility before him, which is to reposition NASS, for optimum performance; and he is doing a good job of it.,” they said.
The stakeholders also warned those who had made themselves willing tools to be used by these desperate people, “to be circumspect in their actions and how they go about it.”
“They must be ready ready to substantiate their claims and show evidence too.
“The idea of running a campaign of calumny against the person of the Clerk will no longer be tolerated and will be resisted.
“This man has built an enviable reputation over the years built on honesty and justice.
“These rare qualities are not easy to come by in our today’s world. So, some hand few desperados should not rub or drag his integrity in the mud,” they stated.
The stakeholders cautioned those attempting to create disharmony within the national assembly to also watch their backs, “for they are reputed for such notorious behaviour of pull-him- down syndrome.
“Everyone has his time; they should wait for their own time, and until then, they should join hands to support the CNA to succeed in carrying out his stipulated responsibility,” they said further.
They argued that Sani Magaji reign so far had brought fresh air to the National Assembly in so many ways.
According to them, “His financial reputation and discipline, his stance on fairness and justice for all, and his concern for the well-being of staff have remained sign posts of his leadership skills and abilities.”
