Nasarawa to pay NECO Fees for final year students

The Nasarawa State Government has announced its commitment to pay the registration fees for the 2024 National Examinations Council (NECO) for all final year students in public schools.

Governor Abdullahi Sule made this declaration during the inauguration of newly appointed permanent secretaries and the executive chairman along with members of the Nasarawa State Disabilities Rights Commission at the Government House on Monday.

Governor Sule emphasized the importance of providing relief to students amid ongoing hardships across the country.

He said plans for the distribution of food items as palliatives to indigenous students of tertiary institutions, further underscored the government’s commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by its citizens.

The governor reiterated President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s awareness of the prevailing hardships and emphasized concerted efforts by the government to mitigate their effects.

He highlighted the recent distribution of food items across the state and announced the upcoming distribution of relief items to tertiary institution students.

Governor Sule assured final year secondary students who had already paid their NECO registration fees that the money would be refunded.

Additionally, he outlined plans for industrialization and agriculture initiatives aimed at engaging the populace in meaningful ventures.

He stressed the importance of providing palliatives in the short term while focusing on sustainable solutions for the long term.

Governor Sule charged the newly-appointed officials to uphold transparency, accountability, and probity in their duties, echoing the principles of his administration.

The inauguration of the Nasarawa State Disabilities Rights Commission aligns with the National Disabilities Act 2018, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of citizens with disabilities and enhancing their participation in socio-economic activities.

In his vote of thanks, Idris Umar Idris, one of the newly-inaugurated permanent secretaries, expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for the opportunity to serve in their respective roles, affirming their dedication to fulfilling their responsibilities with diligence and integrity.
