The series of effective air strikes conducted by the Air Components of Operation Hadarin Daji and Hadin Kai persisted over the weekend, resulting in the disruption of terrorist activities and safeguarding vulnerable populations, particularly innocent civilians, have been reported.

According to Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), one such operation was executed under Operation Hadarin Daji on April 5, 2024, targeting a terrorist stronghold situated northwest of Yartsamiya Village in Danmusa Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State.

Gabkwet reported that during the operation, a group of 11 armed terrorists was detected advancing towards a mountainous area.

Subsequently, two additional groups of terrorists converged with the initial group, all heading towards the same mountainous terrain.

Recognizing the imperative to neutralize the threat posed by these terrorists, NAF aircraft engaged them effectively in multiple passes, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists and scattering of the remaining survivors.

Furthermore, Gabkwet detailed the success of air strikes conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai on April 6, 2024, targeting Grazah in Gwoza LGA of Borno State.

Prior intelligence indicated that Grazah, previously utilized as a terrorist hideout, had been repurposed into a logistics storage facility and a site for manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other ammunition.

Recent intelligence confirmed heightened terrorist activities in makeshift structures at the location, prompting decisive air interdiction, which led to the neutralization of numerous terrorists.

Gabkwet emphasized that these operations, penetrating deep into terrorist strongholds, will persist as these areas serve as hubs for recruitment, training, and indoctrination of potential terrorists.

Targeting their logistical infrastructure also serves to diminish their capacity to orchestrate large-scale attacks, particularly against civilian populations and military installations. He underscored the pivotal role of timely information and intelligence provided by the public in achieving these successes, stressing the necessity of sustaining such collaborative efforts.
