In a bid to enhance operational flexibility, inject fresh perspectives, and optimize leadership capabilities, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has approved the redeployment of several senior officers within the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
This reshuffle affects Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Directors, and Commanders.
According to Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force Group Captain Kabiru Ali, among those reassigned are Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olasunkanmi Abidoye, now Chief of Standards and Evaluation at NAF Headquarters, and AVM Adeniyi Amesinlola, who moves from Commandant at the Armed Forces Resettlement Centre to Chief of Transformation and Innovation.
AVM Abubakar Adamu has been appointed Group Managing Director of NAFIL Group.
Other key appointments include AVM Iboro Etukudo as Chief of Policy and Plans, AVM Francis Edosa as Chief of Training and Operations, and AVM Dalhat Ladan as Chief of Air Intelligence. AVM Suleiman Usman is now Chief of Communication and Information Systems, while AVM Sayo Olatunde and AVM Lanre Oluwatoyin will serve as Chief of Defence Policy and Plans and Chief of Defence Space Administration, respectively, at Defence Headquarters.
Further, AVM Ibikunle Daramola, formerly the Chief of Communication and Information Systems, is now the Chief of Civil-Military Relations. AVM Abiola Amodu, previously Director General of the Air Force Research and Development Institute, takes on the role of Chief of Aircraft Engineering, and AVM Patrick Phillips has been appointed Chief of Logistics. Additionally, AVM Elijah Ebiowe will serve as the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, while AVM Sunday Aneke takes over as AOC Mobility Command in Yenagoa. AVM Abubakar Abdullahi will oversee the Air Training Command in Kaduna, and AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun has been appointed AOC Logistics Command in Ikeja.
Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that the redeployments are aimed at achieving strategic flexibility and resource optimization to bolster NAF’s operational effectiveness. He also stressed the importance of leveraging critical thinking to devise strategies for addressing current security challenges.
