NAF airstrikes eliminate dozens of terrorists in Niger State’s Shiroro area

In a decisive operation against criminal elements in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, the Air Component of Operation WHIRL PUNCH executed a successful air interdiction mission on September 11, 2024.

The mission, requested by friendly forces in the area, targeted terrorists in Bassa.

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) assets observed over 100 terrorists engaging friendly forces in a fierce firefight.

After confirming the positions of the friendly troops, NAF conducted precision airstrikes, neutralizing dozens of terrorists in successive passes.

So far, 28 bodies have been recovered, with more terrorists, weapons, and burnt motorcycles still being cleared.

This operation underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to protecting the nation and supporting other security agencies in combating criminal activities.

NAF remains dedicated to conducting air operations, independently and alongside surface forces, to ensure the peace and security of the country.
